Non-Entree Desserts @ Rangoon Road, Singapore

Located at Rangoon Road (right next to Ng Ah Sio Bak Kut Teh), Non-Entree Desserts is a newly established hipster cafe which serves non-traditional European desserts (non-entree ma). Opened by three army buddies, one who was the pasty chef of Regent Singapore Hotel, do expect nothing less, because Non-Entree Desserts is gonna wow you. No, like seriously. Insta-worthy-looking food with fine-dining quality at affordable prices. 


A must-order is definitely their Chocolate Avalanche (S$13.90). A warm Valrhona chocolate cake on a crunchy almond nougatine, served with orange-infused vanilla ice cream. You eat this by stabbing the hell out of the cake (like how Waif stabbed Arya Stark on the stomach), and letting the chocolate lava fall onto the ice-cream. For one, it's an ingenious way of preventing the ice-cream from melting fast (compared as if it's sitting right on top of the cake - like a cold ass on a warm MRT seat), and two, it is seriously, and I meant, god-damnnnnn #pictureperfect.

Oh, recently, they introduced the green-tea equivalent (called Matcha Avalanche, how clever), which has a good mix of matcha lava and azuki beans, served with smokey roasted green-tea gelato.


My dear friend recommended this cafe, because of the Rubber Ducky (S$12.90). Well, obviously, the duck is not made of latex, but mango sorbet, accompanied by creme fraiche pudding, mango puree, sago pearls, and lemongrass cloud. If you're curious of what it might taste like, imagine mango pomelo sago, shaped like a duck in your bath. Disclaimer: However, as cute as it may look, please refrain yourself from putting this dish in your bath. It will probably sink, and you'll be itching after that.


As expected, their offerings are all made from scratch. They also serve other desserts which are beyond creativity, as well as caffeine, waffles, and ice-cream. 

All in all, Non-Entree Desserts is a great place to hang around (you can come here after your BKT fix next door). Personally, there is zero doubt that I will be back to try their other desserts. If you're lost, just look for a bright yellow exterior - because this is one cafe that truly stands out from the crowd.
