Artistry @ Jalan Pinang, Singapore

Hello hungry people! Sorry for the lack of updates these few weeks as university and work are really time-consuming, and I had to set my priorities right. So, anyway Christmas is once again around the corner, and I will most probably do up a Christmasy post soon. Please look forward to it!

Nestled along Jalan Pinang, a quiet lane tucked away in the midst of Kampong Glam, Artistry is a cafe, which specialises in art and food. As one could have expected, the decor was cozy, with a great creativity amidst the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. Artistry serves as a platform for art-lovers, featuring live bands and an art gallery with paintings which are up for sale.

It was after a hearty meal at Grand Mandarina, but I am the sort of person who would never turn down a good dessert place. We decided to grab some cakes and drinks, you know, just to chill out the rest of the lazy Saturday afternoon away. Lychee Martini Cake (S$7) was the bomb. With a base of soft and fluffy vanilla-based cake, this brilliant creation was then covered with a nice layer of cream and halved lychees.

I wouldn't speak anything less for their Red Velvet Cake (S$7), because it is equally orgasmic on our taste buds as well. This cake is decadent and definitely makes for a guilty pleasure. Besides these two cakes, there are several other cakes (Banana Chocolate, Cashew Cheesecake, etc.) which are displayed near their counters. Well, thank God for our self-control, because we actually wanted to grab all. But again, there's always a next time.

Their drinks look good, real good. We had a go at their signature smoothies (S$7 each), but were rather disappointed. It was no doubt rich and had a nice consistency, but it lacks flavour. Perhaps, sweetening were reduced to an awful amount to make it a healthy drink, but still.

Another drink we tried was their Iced Mocha (S$8), they actually have a ridiculously small version for two bucks less, so might as well get the bigger one. Flavour was thin, but nevertheless, good enough to fix my quench from Singapore's screwed-up weather.

All in all, Artistry has really nice cakes and probably desserts, but mediocre drinks. For myself, I will definitely be back for their other desserts. Good place to chill out with a couple of friends amidst a nice and cosy ambience.
