Pad thai, green curry, tom yum goong..? If you're bored of eating these local food in Pattaya, why not head to Bon Cafe for some American-styled breakfast? Opened as a franchise by a Swiss businessman, Bon Cafe, which features al-fresco dining, has a large, lovely space decorated with glass table-tops and rattan chairs, and could seat more than 50 people. From our recent trip, customers are evidently Caucasian men in their late 50s, accompanied by their browner counterparts (aka Pattaya girlfriends). Oh ya, the location to this cafe is not a hassle as it is located at the main roads of North Pattaya, otherwise, ask the ang-mohs. I'm pretty sure Bon Cafe is their hot-spot for bringing their one-night dates for breakfast after a night of excitement. Do what? Watch movies la, you dirty-minded sia.

Roast Coffee and Eatery Part II @ Thong Lor, Bangkok
And.. we are back to Roast! During our recent trip to Thailand, we decided to bring two new friends from Hong Kong to try out what they have to offer. Nothing much had changed since two years ago (probably their menu) on my last visit, Roast is still a gastronomical haven for both coffee and brunch lovers, serving a selection of tantalising international dishes and caffeine crafted by the hands of their seasoned barristas. Amidst their decorations of mostly rustic wood furniture, small pots of greenery, and artistic art pieces hanging from their high ceilings, lies the pride of Roast - a full fledged roast machine glistering in the colours of golden black.

Roast Coffee and Eatery @ Thong Lor, Bangkok
A recent trip to the "city of angels" brought me to Seenspace in Thong Lor 13, a newly opened boutique mall, which housed a good number of trendy and quirky restaurants, such as every children's favourite Mr Jones Orphanage and Belon, where oysters are best served fresh. Likewise, Roast offers a gastronomical haven for both coffee and brunch lovers, serving a selection of tantalising international dishes and caffeine crafted by the hands of their seasoned barristas. Amidst their decorations of mostly rustic wood furniture, small pots of greenery, and artistic art pieces hanging from their high ceilings, lies the pride of Roast - a full fledged roast machine glistering in the colours of golden black.

Light Up Your Christmas with O'Coffee Club
With this year's theme of "Light Up Your Christmas", O'Coffee Club presents an impressive array of festive ala carte menu and goodies, ranging from home-baked artisanal cookies and yule logcakes to festive drinks, such as the X'mas edition mango vodka juice- Blue Santa Tini (S$12.00). One would be spoilt for choice.
Double Berry Rock (S$7.20/slice or S$45/whole) is their newest addition of seasonal logcakes, with "a sensational twist of blissful chocolate with cherry compote and berry Bavarian cream."
Let It Snow (S$8.00) - "a Christmas edition macaroon mocha ice-blended drink, filled with crushed cookie bits." The Christmas tree cookie looks absolutely adorable at the summit of whipped cream. Hazelnut Caramel Crawing (S$6.50) is not one of the promotions, but I thought it has a festive ring to its brilliant design.
Besides pastries and seasonal drinks, O'Coffee Club serves a variety of tantalizing festive treats as well, such as the mouth-watering main courses "Christmas Beef Brisket" and "Chicken and Turkey Mince Roll". For more information about this festive promotion and other in-house menus, please do not hesitate to visit their main site at http://www.ocoffeeclub.com/
Do take note that there is a "Longest Whimsical Log Cake Decorating Contest", which will be held at Marina Square on 23 December 2012 with exciting prizes to be given away. For more information: http://www.marinasquare.com.sg/happenings/promotions/view/689
Have a Christmas treat like no other - Happy festive dining!

Blue Mountain Cafe @ Somerset 313, Singapore
BLUE MOUNTAIN CAFE (Somerset 313) is moved to Illuma, Bugis.
After some light Sunday shopping and dessert at Cold Rock, we decided to go for seconds at Blue Mountain Cafe, which was conveniently one level above Cold Rock and situated just a stone's throw away from Uniqlo

A table for four was cleared for us, and we were promptly ushered to our seats by the manager/boss (from the looks of it). Their sofa chairs were surely a plus point - a good resting haven for tired feet after a day of walking.
In a cafe which specialises in premium coffee, I hesitated no further and ordered a cup of Kenya AA (S$6.90). The drink came in a coffee apparatus, which was then poured into a cup by one of the service staff. The grade "AA" coffee emanated a pleasant aroma, had a well-balanced taste between sour and bitter, and was completed with a mild after-taste and a slight sting to the tongue. For the price, this coffee is definitely worth your bucks.
Mama Kook had her Cafe Au Lait (S$6.90), coffee served with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. The drink was so bitter (perhaps they forgot to add some sugar) that she had to ask for sugar syrup. My girl ordered the Matcha Tea Latte (S$6.20) as she was not much of a coffee lover.
For some small bites, we ordered a plate of Baked Mussels (S$8.90), topped with tomato paste, cheese and parsley flakes. The mussels were pretty well-baked, but overall, the dish was a tad too dry for my liking and I had expected the cheese to be more gooey.
Close up of that fresh goodness.
Timothy, my only younger brother and a culinary intern at Shangri-la, had the Japanese Curry Baked Rice (S$11.90). The chicken strips were tender and the wet, runny cheese complemented well with the Japanese curry. BMC could definitely do a better job garnishing this delicacy though.
He also had their Choco Mint Latte [not in pictures (S$6.20)].
I have read some pretty decent reviews about their desserts as well. But maybe till next time!
